Hotel Avalon in Bansko

Based in a quiet residential part of Bansko's town with great views of the Pirin Mountains, the hotel is just on a short walk from the heart of Bansko's old town and the start of the new state of the art ski lift.

The hotel has been fitted out to the highest standards using local materials, all the rooms have en suite bathrooms, cable TV and a connection to the Internet (bring a laptop if you really can't stay away from work!), the furnishings have been hand made combining local craftsmanship with modern style.

Downstairs we have a relaxed lobby bar and restaurant offering French and Italian food and a fine selection of local wines. In the basement there is a sauna, Jacuzzi and massage service to ease aching muscles. George and his group of internationally qualified ski instructors will be on hand to give lessons for beginners as well as guide for the more intrepid extreme skier.

The historic town of Bansko is situated in the Southwest of the country in the foothills of the beautiful Mount Pirin. The mountain's twin peaks soar to over 2900 m and its breathtaking alpine beauty combined with the area's history has resulted in its adoption as a World Heritage site.

Bansko's re-emergence as Bulgaria's newest international ski resort owes much to its good snow record and excellent ski runs, catering for skiers of all standards, from beginners to experts, in a season that lasts from mid December to mid April. The many cultural monuments and museums of the town add a historic ambience, which blends perfectly with the facilities of a modern ski resort. The local ski school is excellent and ski rentals and 24-hour emergency services are readily available.

Apres ski in the taverns and restaurants of the Old Town offers a unique opportunity to enjoy the local cuisine (all use local ingredients) and culture. Live music, a disco and nightclubs are all part of the local scene.
