The
price includes:
all transfers, full board and all accommodation, English speaking Bulgarian
guide during the whole trip. The price doesn’t include: entry tickets, drinks and everything not
mentioned below! Please pay attention that you main luggage is not transferred
to the hut and Rila Monastery!
Day 1: Sofia – Rila Mountain
Transfer from Sofia airport to the region of Maliovitza in the Rila massif (100
km.). Accommodation in mountain hotel at 1720m.
Day 2: Rila Mountain traverse
Breakfast. Hiking in the area and climbing the Mt.
Maliovitza (2729 m). Lunch picnic. Dinner in the hotel. Same
accommodation.
Day 3: Rila Mountain traverse
Breakfast. Hiking to the beautiful Seven lakes. Lunch
picnic. Dinner and accommodation in a hut.
Day 4: Rila Mountain traverse and Rila monastery
Breakfast.
Long trek from the Seven lakes area to Rila monastery. Overnight in the
monastery.
Rila
monastery is situated high in the picturesque Rila Mountains. John of Rila
founded the monastery in the 10th century as a colony of hermits.
Later it became one of the centers of early mediaeval culture. Over time it has
been destroyed by fire, abandoned by the monks and pillaged, but remains a
truly spectacular place.
Day 5: Melnik
Breakfast and free time to visit the
monastery museum. Transfer from the Monastery to the picturesque town of Melnik
and Rojen Monastery. Dinner accommodation in a hotel.
Bulgaria's smallest
town is hiding among frozen sandstone pyramids. Thracians, Romans and
Byzantines have written its history. Two springs feed the glory of the town:
its wonderful architecture and its brilliant wine. Visit the Museum Kordopulov
House – a magnificent example of Medieval building with its Venetian stained
glass windows, spacious rooms and salons, ornamental murals, weaves and
fretwork, and large wine-cellar from which caravans with the famous Melnik wine
once left for Thessalonica, Athens, Vienna, Rome, and even Marseille and Spain.
Day 6. Sofia and departure
Breakfast
and departure for Sofia.
